Greetings and welcome! My name's Wendy Hiller, and believe it or not, I'm proudly rocking my 50's (ouch, that stings a bit!). My body might be on board with the whole 50 thing, but let me tell you, in my mind, I'm still living it up in my 30's! Age is just a number, right?
I am thrilled to extend my invitation to this platform and blog, where I aim to share my educational and professional experiences with you.
I am currently a Team Lead and facilitator within a corporate training and professional development team. I am deeply passionate about my role and greatly appreciate the team I work with. There has been a heightened stress level due to the recent announcement of my employer's sale. Despite this development, we remain dedicated to maintaining our standard operations. Significant developments are underway in our workplace as we advance our training resources and elevate our facilitation techniques to ensure an engaging learning experience for our employees. That's a quick introduction to my work life.
In the wake of the COVID pandemic, virtual training has become increasingly prevalent, with a rapid shift towards shorter, self-guided learning experiences. I identified the potential of instructional design as the future and took action. At 50-something, I returned to school to pursue my master's degree. I am proud to announce that I am just nine months away from completing my master's program in Instructional Design Technology. Despite the challenges, I do enjoy learning!
I spend a lot of time at home. I work from home, I do homework from home, and then there are all those other super fun adulting things like cooking, cleaning, laundry, yardwork—you know the drill. I'm single, so it's also a lot of alone time. Well, not truly alone. I have my sweet Daisy Mae, who keeps me company and has a lot of personality. I admit I talk to her like she's a person, and I'm pretty sure she understands me.
That's the introduction to my little world. I plan to use this blog to share my troubles and triumphs. I will also let you get to know me better and share professional advice. Thank you for taking the time to visit and get to know me. I look forward to this adventure we are on together!
Wendy
